This artwork is inspired by Muqatta'at and consists of 'bismi’l-lahi’r-rahmani’r-rahim' followed by 'Alif, Lam, Mim' in Arabic. The three vertical line give an impression of a music score visualising the rhythm and harmony of Quranic verses.
Alif, Lam, Mim are examples of Muqatta'at. Muqatta'at are unique letter combinations that appear in the beginning of 29 suras (chapters) of the Qur'an. Muqatta'at literally means abbreviated or shortened. Their meanings remain unclear and are considered by some to be divine secrets.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Alif. Lam. Mim.
Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal.
He hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.
